Chalet Plan Praz
Verbier

This newly built chalet in the heart of Verbier, Switzerland, resembles a timeless chalet from the past on the exterior, but in the interior, only the vaulted ceiling beams are reminiscent of a traditional chalet structure.
The addition of large windows and doors creates a focus on the extraordinary alpine views, the sometimes-harsh brightness softened by natural linen sheers.
The lines are simple, clean, and sharp like those of Scandinavian design, echoing the heritage of the chalet’s owners.
The soft and neutral palette is enhanced by the sharp contrast of a carbon black fireplace.
Original Danish leather lounge chairs from Borge Mogensen contrast with furs and deer horns, bringing us back to the origins of the mountain life.
Fritz Hansen dining chairs continue the Scandinavian theme with their organic shapes matching the ones of a deer's antlers above the fireplace.
Playful contrasts of time and space are found in an office mixing the roughness of peasant tables with a multi-monitor workstation and vintage modern pieces like a Charles and Ray Eames swivel chair.
Locally sourced antique peasant pieces made by unknown craftsmen are juxtaposed with Bauhaus pieces, and alpine wools blend with the refined fabrics of the cashmere curtains, in a neutral and seasonal winter palette of creams and browns. Earthy tones and touches of rust color and copper bring all the essential elements together.
